Our method encourages children to be “Active Learners” and engage in meaningful and purposeful endeavors, rather than random and haphazard activities. We believe that children learn best by pursuing their personal interests and goals. Children of Mulberry Kids Preschool are encouraged to make choices about materials and activities throughout the day, balanced with teacher-directed activities. CURRICULUM We offer a preschool program for children ages 1 ½ years old to 6 ½ years old. We utilize a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the High/Scope Approach to Learning. OUR PROGRAMS Periwinkle (Toddlers Class) 1.6 – 2.5 yrs Hollyhock (Nursery Class) 2.6 – 3.5 yrs Hawthorn (Kinder 1 Class) 3.6 – 4.5 yrs Mulberry (Kinder 2 Class) 4.6 – 5.5 yrs Toddler Program 1.6 – 2.5 yrs The Toddler program serves as a transition for the toddler between the home and the pre-school. The program supports the child’s natural ability to learn by exploring his surroundings, by experiencing the world using his senses as well as interacting with the people in his environment Nursery 2.6 – 3.5 yrs Taking advantage of the three-year old’s ability to learn by listening, pre-reading and number readiness skills, science and social relations are slowly introduced in a fun, playful, and stimulating manner that takes into consideration the developmental stage of the child. Kindergarten 1 3.6 – 4.5 yrs This program’s developmentally appropriate tasks support the child’s rapidly growing intellectual and cognitive development, and provide the child as well with the much-needed opportunities for socialization and interaction with peers. Kindergarten 2 4.6 – 5.5 yrs To enhance reading and math skills learned in his earlier years, the Kindergarten 2 program provides the child with opportunities to “learn how to learn”. A developmentally appropriate learning program is designed for the Kindergarten 2 child to meet the challenges of life in bigger schools while still giving him a lot of opportunities to play and make choices during the Plan-Do-Review time, as well as interact with his peers and his environment.
